I love donuts always think they’re too much bother to make and end up going down the local supermarket to buy a dozen only to find out that bake day was 3 days previous – yeah they’re nice straight out of the oven, you can’t beat freshly made donuts, but they soon go stale – so make ’em yourself…
Cinnamon sugar pizza dough donuts. Quick easy and hits the spot for something sweet.
Yields : 8 donuts
One bag pre made pizza dough( usually located in the deli section of your local supermarket, for about 1.99), or one box instant pizza dough( chef Boyardee make a good one)
Enough oil to make about two inches of oil in a pan.
1/2 cup white sugar
1tsp vanilla powder
Clean work surface
Flour for work surface
Deep sided frying pan or cast iron pot
Round biscuit cutter
Cake icing tip or any small round object can work.
Slotted spoon or spider
Pre heat oil to 350 degrees measure with candy thermometer
Remove pizza dough from package, or mix pizza dough and turn out onto floured work surface.
Roll pizza dough out to about 1/8 inch thick and cut rounds with the biscuit cutter, and punch the center out with the cake tip or object of choice.
After that process, mix cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla powder together in a bowl and set aside.
Place cut donuts in the oil facing away from you ( working with hot oil is dangerous so be careful) fry donut on one side until brown, and flip and fry on other side until same.
After, place cooked donuts on wire rack on top of sheet pan to drain any excess oil.
While donuts are still warm toss in cinnamon mixture.
